Well folks, I see many requests about upgrading Adobe Flash Player BUT no responses from GoogleTV or Google, Inc., period. I guess they are too preoccupied with assisting the Chinese government in suppressing their citizens. There is ESPN3 for this college football season that is currently BLANK because GoogleTV cannot get their act together at update Adobe Flash Player to 10.3.xxxx. Thanks Google for all your LACK of support. For all who are looking for a REAL solution to watching internet TV NOW and into the future without being held hostage by the likes of GoogleTV or Google, Inc., look into Mctivia which is a wireless Mac/PC player, making your HDTV a monitor for your computer.and, since both Mac and PC can update Adobe flash players when they offer upgrades you can stay current on your HDTV big screen, instead of sitting on GoogleTV waiting for the Titanic to arrive in New York harbor. LeslieIsGreat 28/9/2011, 12:37 น. Hi Toni, I wonder if you can explain my problem- Within facebook when I click on a video I get a prompt to update my flashplayer See screenshot 1, I click the button and on the adobe site it tells me Chrome does its thing automatically.
Enable Adobe Flash Player on Firefox Enable Adobe Flash Player on Opera Enable Adobe Flash Player on Edge Enable Adobe Flash Player on Chrome 1) Open your Google Chrome browser, type chrome://settings/content in the address bar and press Enter. 2) On the content settings screen, locate Flash player settings. Select Allow sites to run Flash. To enable Flash for a specific website, first open your Chrome browser and type chrome://settings/content in the address bar, then press enter. Then on the Content Settings page, scroll down and click the Flash button.
So no option to update there;o( When I look at the Flashplayer settings on my machine it says that the gcswf32.dll is enabled. Version shows as: Name: Shockwave Flash Description: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53 Version: 10,1,53,64 Location: C: WINDOWS system32 Macromed Flash NPSWF32.dll Disable So where do I go from here, I have tried restarting my machine but it makes no difference. This has only started recently BTW Dell PC on windows XP Any help gratefully received.
Colin;o) flashplayeruk, 7:34 น. Toni can correct me (I don't know Windows), but in the mean time, the 'Disable' below the NPSWF32.dll Location tells me it's enabled. Maybe if you click that 'Disable' (disabling the out-of-date Flash player), Chrome will be forced to use the gcswf32.dll. If Chrome is updating it properly, its Version should be 11.1.102.55 (with maybe commas instead of decimal points). If need be, you can just click the 'Enable' that showed up when you clicked 'Disable' to get back to where you were.
Are you sure it doesn't say 'Enable' under the gcswf32.dll Location? In Mac OS X, the built-in Chrome version is called 'Flash Player Plugin for Chrome.plugin' and the system version is called 'Flash Player.plugin'. With that, Toni's description can be used on Mac OS X as well.
Flashplayeruk, 14:52 น. You made my day:) Have been experiencing rough times trying to update Flash Player. Had to use different browsers to watch movies from my favourite site. Thanks to your description I found an old Flash Player version was used by Chrome. BUT both Flash Plugins were ENABLED - doesn't that mean there should be an automatic update??? What finally worked for me was to disable gcswf32.dll and use the system version. An example site showing this message to me would be Screenshot can be found here: Cheers Ripsaw7, 12:03 น.
Hi Toni, I have the same problem as the others, when using websites such as facebook, I cannot view embedded videos, and get an adobe message saying 'Flash player update required' I went to their site and the latest update for Chrome (for mac) is 11.1.102.55, and I'm currently using 10,1,53,64. Under the plug-ins menu I have two flash players installed, both called 'Shockwave Flash' that are updated to 10,1,53,64. I'm not sure if I simply don't have adobe installed, or if this is something to do with me using a Mac. However, I tried downloading an update from Adobe but it said that Chrome would automatically update it. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks mbrndt, 15:22 น.
Ripsaw7, I too have Google Chrome on a Mac. Has what about:plugins shows for the Flash player.
Has the webpage showing what version I have installed (11.1.102.55) and the About Google Chrome saying what version I'm running (15.0.874.121). Both have been that way since at least 12/1/11 (as Toni said above). If you can't see them clearly, click the spyglass icon on the right above the image. If the 'Disable' link (in blue) below the first Shockwave Flash plugin in the about:plugins webpage somehow got switched to 'Enable' on your system, click the Enable.
If your version of Google Chrome (if you don't know how to check it: click the wrench icon to the right of the address bar, and then click About Google Chrome in the dropdown menu) is earlier than 15.0.874.121, I would suggest reinstalling it, but Toni may have a less drastic solution. Toni (Googler), 16:04 น. I had a problem like this too - but I found a bigger problem, solved that one, and found the Flash Player issue to be fine. I was running an old version of Chrome on my Mac - from 2011 (I don't remember exactly which one) and for whatever reason it wasn't updating by itself. I ended up downloading the new version and replacing the old version with the new one, and Flash Player worked fine. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that every time I try to open Chrome, the window that asks me to drag the icon into the Applications folder appears even though I have already dragged it in.
Not sure where to ask about this but I want to make sure this newest version of Chrome will automatically update so I don't have issues like I did last time. Joliejulia06 13/9/2012, 18:39 น. Hi, I am having the same problem as xohollistercoxox3.
Adobe Flash Player won't run and is always 'disabled' because it claims to be out of date. When I follow your directions, I can verify that it is indeed enabled. However, I see a little blue link next to 'Version: 11.1.31.100' that says 'Download Critical Security Update.' When I click that, I am taken, again to the Adobe page and given the message 'Your Google Chrome browser already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available.'
When I check my Google Chrome updates, it claims my browser is up to date. I'm frustrated! I can't run any media files in Chrome anymore and there is no way for me to manually update Flash, it seems.
Wyryry 3/10/2012, 21:05 น. Type chrome:plugins in the address bar to open the Plug-ins page. On the Plug-ins page that appears, find the 'Flash' listing. To enable Adobe Flash Player, click the Enable link under its name. To disable Adobe Flash Player completely, click the Disable link under its name. Note: If you've previously installed Adobe Flash Player separately, you'll see two files listed for the plug-in. If both are listed as enabled, the version bundled with Chrome will be used.
To enable a specific version of Adobe Flash Player, click Details in the upper-right corner of the page. Then click the Enable link for the version of Adobe Flash Player you want to enable. The table below shows the filename for the version that is integrated with Google Chrome. Melpale 3/4/2013, 20:50 น. Have you heard about the new changes to the flash plugin?
